“While walking in life, you leave your footprints behind. Make sure you choose the right path. Someone might follow it someday.” — Simran Kankas

Dreams do come true!

Whenever I get confused about anything or feel overwhelmed, I pick up my pen and diary and start writing. Sometimes writing a poem helps me get the answer to the question running in my head at the time or a simple quote solves the puzzle. I can say with absolute certainty that writing is like a therapy to me.

“Keep on shaking your dreams. That’s the only way to to reach your destination, yet continue your journey.”

Dussehra is a Hindu festival. It symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.

One of the stories behind this festival is Ram’s victory over Raavan.

Raavan was the powerful king of the demons. He did penance for years to please Lord Brahma. …

A short story in a poetic form

Once there were two men talking about life. They both were believers. One was a religious man, the other was spiritual. One believed in the power of God and the other believed the universe was his guide.

Both men started talking about things they were thankful for in life and how the path that they follow helps them move forward.

Believer 1: My life was a maze path
On which I and faith trod
Every day is a day of thanksgiving
To the Almighty God

Believer 2: Every second in my life
I am thankful to the universe
I know I have been saved
Things could be worse
Every blessing that comes my way
Has fought the…

Every pore on my body
Tells how much you mean to me
When you touch me
You make me feel like myself
No one else could make me
Can’t you see it baby

A thousand volts of electricity
flow through my body
when you smile at me
I turn into a zillion galaxies
when you touch me
Can’t you see it baby

Even when you try to pretend
You don’t feel it, your eyes tell
When you look at me
Your heart knows well

Don’t act because
you can not hide
the feelings inside
When you touch me
Can’t you see it…

I noticed something today
When I was on my way
to the park this morning
Though I took the same route
that I do every day
It felt different in some way

The birds did not sing
The trees did not dance
The wind did not feel free
Nature stood still
The sight gave me chills

The Sun did not look happy
Though it was bright
I could feel in the air
Something was not right

I looked up
Asked the universe
It said “when people do wrong
I do get mad and furious

Poem on Introspection

I have witnessed many eyes
Shedding everything but
The true emotions
I have seen the well of sadness
Hidden inside many eyes
Does that mean I am Alive

I have never seen a lifeless body
I have never experienced
bringing a life into this world
But I can feel the
Agony of death and joy of life
Does that mean I am Alive

I have seen the loneliness
Waiting to claim its next victim
I have witnessed the solitude
Hug the man sitting alone
Does that mean I am Alive

I have seen the poverty
Robbing the children
of their childhood
I have seen money
Ripping off the innocence
Does that mean I am…

You see wrinkles on my face
But can’t accept the fact
It happens with age
I see your love knot
With broken loops
Still you are perfect
Or so you claim

You complain of my body
I look at my figure and
All I see is one woman’s journey
So that we could have a family
Aren’t you forgetting
Change is what
We should all embrace
You see wrinkles on my face
But can’t accept the fact
It happens with age

I see sparkles in your eyes
When you are surrounded
by everyone but me
Yet you cannot figure out why
there is dullness on my face
I see your love knot
With broken loops
Still you are perfect
Or so you claim
You see wrinkles on my face
But can’t accept the fact
It happens with…

A Spiritual Poetry

Sitting with the loneliness
The soul asked
Do you ever feel lonely
Like I do when
I am filled with emptiness
When I forget to have the humility
and left with an injured pride

The loneliness smiled and said
There is a void in everyone’s life
Every person will experience this
It is just a matter of time

The soul sighed
It inhaled life and said
When I am with the universe
I never feel a void inside

Look at me
I am sitting with you
Still I am feeling alive

The loneliness looked at the starry sky
In a deep voice it replied
Whatever you have said is…

The sun comes to say
hello to me every day
The moon waits for me
by the window
The stars appear and shine
But I am unable to move
I am sleepy and tired all the time

I want to wave at the Sun
My heart wishes to create
a new image among the stars
I miss the gossip with the moon
I want to wear sunshine again
and forget about the scars
But I can’t because nothing is fine
I am sleepy and tired all the time

I want to run like the wind
Play with waves every day
I want to pick up the brush
and paint the blank canvas
to find solace in every stroke
But that strength is hard to find
I am sleepy and tired all the…

Lost souls wandering the streets
but it’s the spirit of the festival
that is over me
I am where I really need to be
I am alive I am free

Today I am lighting the earthen lamps of joy
hoping to dispel the darkness around
Sure the world needs more light
but one step forward does count

I am shining brighter than ever
Because I can feel joy in the air
Never say never
NOW is the only moment that exists
Live this moment that is right here
